Position & Ministry Description: As Women’s Ministry Leader, Erin leads a team of women in planning and providing opportunities for women to more deeply love and know God as they grow in their relationship with Him through Bible study, mentoring, training, serving, and fellowship with other women.
Erin's Vision: For the women at Neighborhood know and experience the goodness of God more deeply through a growing relationship with Him is what Erin desires most. We need to aim for God himself. It’s not going to Bible study just to hang out with others, or have our needs prayed for, not retreats just because they’re fun or even instructive, not better head knowledge of theology or just becoming more in-line with the law with our behavior. All those things are good and can help us in our goal, but they are not what we are aiming at. Aiming for greater understanding and experience of God’s goodnesses will flavor all of the other things: Bible studies, friendships, hardships, events, prayer, etc. And gratefully, God wants us to hit this target. He is not just out there waiting for us to come. He is seeking us as well. Meeting God in His expressions of goodness toward us (which include his laws as well as his grace) will create the overflowing joy that is a goal of NCAC that will spill out into women’s worship, service, personal relationships, families, etc. How do we do this? Well, we can’t jump inside of women’s hearts and heads and change them. Only the Holy Spirit can do that. So we pray for God to draw women to Himself in this way. We talk about it with each other, remind each other of His goodness in scripture, and by the testimonies of our own lives. We can make it a culture of women’s ministry by what we teach, how we talk, how we interact with each other, and what we prioritize. It becomes a “culture” over time, but we must be careful that it isn’t just a culture that is plastered on the surface, but one that emanates from each woman’s relationship with God.
Family Information: Erin and her husband, Ben, have been happily married since 1999. They have 3 children, Andrew, Jonny, and Audrey, who are young adults.
Favorite Quote: “To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God. It is what we need more than anything. It liberates us from pretense, humbles us out of our self-righteousness, and fortifies us for any difficulty life can throw at us.” -Timothy Keller
Church History: Erin grew up at Neighborhood Church, attending with her family from a young age. Through the years, she has grown in her relationship with God through Sunday schools, youth group events, and attending home groups and women’s Bible studies.
